Our Family’s Restaurant Beginnings
Our family’s business started as a humble, family-run restaurant called Dulukala Peranakan in 1999. It was a homely 30 seater set-up tucked away at Beauty World Centre. As our family worked towards bringing our mom’s recipe to satisfied customers through the years, Dulukala slowly built a reputation for being one of the most authentic Nyonya Restaurants in Singapore. From there, Dulukala expanded into multiple outlets across Singapore with different brands and restaurant concepts such as O’nya Sayang, Nya Nya and Baba Melaka.
A TRIBUTE TO OUR MOMFamily recipe since 1920
Growing up, food was important to our mom, we used to see her spend hours prepping and pounding ingredients, frying up a rempah, and perfecting family recipes passed down from generations before. “O’nya,” meaning mother in Baba Malay, is a tribute to our mom. Under her loving tutelage, we’ve learnt the beauty and complexity of Nyonya cuisine. It’s the manifestation of memorable childhood moments that we’ve spent with her in the kitchen, seeing her cook authentic Peranakan food with meticulous care, accuracy, and pride, and learnt the art of making authentic and delicious Nyonya dishes.

Did you know that Singapore's late former Prime Minister, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, was a Peranakan too? We realised that Peranakan-ness is something that unites us; everyone who is passionate about good food and rich ethnic culture. In today’s fast-paced world where time is at a premium, we find ourselves having less and less time in the kitchen for complex recipes. Beyond introducing peranakan cuisine in a ready-to-cook paste for easy home meals, we are on a mission to ensure our peranakan culture and cuisine thrives for years to come.
